Camp Counselors full-time & part-timePosition Summary: reporting to the camp director, camp counselors are responsible for supervising and leading activities with children enrolled in camp. Primary Accountabilities: nurturing and encouraging children by providing them with a variety of appropriate age-related learning and social experiences; participating actively with other staff in planning processes; assisting with maintaining the overall condition of classroom, eating areas and other program spaces; attending scheduled staff meetings; partaking in the resolution of camp participants’ issues; recognizing and protecting children from any hazards that are a threat to their physical safety and/or emotional well-being; performing required administrative tasks; increasing childcare skills and competencies by seeking and/or taking advantage of ongoing training opportunities; embracing and supporting the ywca greater newburyport’s health and wellness culture in promoting all programs throughout the facility to foster optimal wellness for all members and the community as a whole; and accepting additional responsibilities as needed. Position Qualifications: minimum of 16 years of age and currently enrolled in a high school program or equivalent; experience in working with grade school children with demonstrated ability in planning/implementing age appropriate activities; and current first aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain designation within three months of employment).
