Group Exercise Instructor

Job Class: part time; non-exempt

Work Week/Hours: Shifts as assigned

Description of the Position: In support of the mission of the agency, programs have been developed that promote the health and wellbeing of members and their families.  Group exercise instructors are responsible for providing group exercise instruction to members of the ywca greater newburyport.  All programs should support the mission of the ywca health and wellness programs and promote that values of the YWCA mission.

Duties: Group Exercise instructors are responsible for:

• Promote the values and mission of the ywca in all interactions with members and staff.
• Providing group exercise instruction to the ywca greater newburyport members.
• Arrive on time and in proper attire for all scheduled classes and appointments.
• Find replacements for all scheduled classes you are not able to teach.  Contact Health & Wellness Director if you are not able to locate a substitute instructor.
• Attend all staff meetings and training seminars.
• Complete all time sheets in a timely, accurate manner.
• Be aware of – and promote – fitness center, group exercise program and YWCA programs and facility.
• Observe and enforce all group exercise / YWCA rules and procedures.
• Communicate with other instructors in accordance with YWCA rules and regulations.
• Assist with maintaining the overall condition of your program space that you use on a regular basis (i.e. safe, clean, neat);

Qualifications:

• One year experience providing group exercise instruction.
• Current CPR certification
• Current Group Exercise and/or class discipline certification
• Ability to function as part of a team

It is expected that all program staff will function as self-directed members in a team effort.  Your activities and performances should meet appropriate professional standards and adhere to the philosophy and purpose of the YWCA.
