Group Exercise Instructors Position Summary: reporting to the land fitness manager, our group exercise instructors are responsible for conducting safe, effective and enjoyable exercise classes through safe leadership, up-to-date quality instruction and high-energy motivation tailored to all fitness levels. Primary Accountabilities: developing routines with appropriate music and choreography; ensuring proper exercise techniques to improve participants’ skills and adhere to safety requirements/regulations; providing modifications for special populations based on participants’ needs, capabilities and/or limitations; administering first aid as required and recording all incidents and accidents on appropriate forms; providing members with relevant information and resources regarding health and wellness; maintaining fitness equipment in accordance with policies and procedures; assisting with registering participants in various programs; embracing and supporting the ywca greater newburyport’s health and wellness culture in promoting all programs throughout the facility to foster optimal wellness for all members and the community as a whole; and performing other related work as required. Position Qualifications: primary group exercise certification through ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NDEITA, YMCA or equivalent program; maintain current CPR certification; and one year of prior fitness instruction experience preferred. Seeking candidates with experience in Spinning, Pilates, Yoga, Low Impact, Step, Body Pump, Zumba, Senior Fitness and other classes. Our successful candidates, in addition to possessing the above qualifications, will have demonstrated dependability, effective decision making capabilities, ability to work independently, effective response in performing well under stress related situations, ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals, and strong communication/relationship building skills. |
