Lifeguards

full-time & part-time

Position Summary:  reporting to the aquatics directors, our lifeguards are responsible for efficiently performing such work as needed to preserve the health and safety of patrons utilizing the ywca swimming pool.

Primary Accountabilities: monitoring the activities of swimmers and pool attendees; ensuring safety and maintaining order; using appropriate rescue techniques as needed; recording all incidents and accidents on appropriate forms; assisting with the filter room operations and with monitoring the chemical attributes of the pool water; opening, cleaning, and closing the pool and its facilities in accordance with policies and procedures;  embracing and supporting the ywca greater newburyport’s health and wellness culture in promoting all programs throughout the facility to foster optimal wellness for all members and the community as a whole; and performing other related work as required.

Position Qualifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard certified and Current First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer certified.

Our successful candidates, in addition to possessing the above qualifications, will have demonstrated dependability, effective analytical and decision making capabilities, ability to work independently, effective response in performing well under stress related situations, and strong communication/relationship building skills.
