Swim Instructors

Position Summary:  reporting to the aquatics directors, our swim instructors are responsible for efficiently performing such work as needed to promote and preserve the health and safety of patrons utilizing the ywca swimming pool.

Primary Accountabilities: monitoring the activities of swimmers and pool attendees. Ensuring safety and maintaining order;  using appropriate rescue techniques as needed; recording all incidents and accidents on appropriate forms; following techniques and lesson plans for purposeful, progressive swim lessons; instructing students in swimming techniques; opening, cleaning and closing the pool and its facilities in accordance with policies and procedures; assisting with registering participants in various programs; embracing and supporting the ywca greater newburyport’s health and wellness culture in promoting all programs throughout the facility to foster optimal wellness for all members and the community as a whole; and performing other related work as required.

Position Qualifications: demonstrated ability to supervise and teach youth and adults of all ages and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
