YWCA EPIC Summah Program: Week #2
Oh What A Week!
After a camp hiatus during the 4th of July week, we jumped back in with the first summer heat wave! What better way to beat the heat then to go ice skating and playing at Water Country. The weather only stopped our adventuring one day and we made the best of it with an EPIC day in our Bresnahan School homebase doing karaoke, creating amazing crafts and playing group games in the gym. We braved the weather on one hot afternoon and went into downtown Newburyport where we practiced our shopping etiquette, learned about money management and taxes and sampled lots of ice cream! We might have even tip toed through the Inn Street fountain a bit too. We always love visiting our local businesses!!! We ended our week with a trip to X-Treme Craze for fun in their airpark and laser tag. Summer is in full swing and so is our camp.
YWCA EPIC Summah Program: Week #1
People say that Disney Land is the Happiest Place on Earth…….but they are wrong. The YWCA’s Summer Camp is! We started on June 24th with our first EPIC Session. After hours of training the counselors were ready and I, the Camp Director, was trying to remind myself why I ever thought 30 days of fieldtrips was good idea!?! If you’ve ever planned a birthday party then you can emphasize……if that party was for 50 and if you planned 30 of them all in a row and included transportation as well as being the party host. Yet each and every year, through the fog of my insanity we jump in and make the best memories as a summer community. This year is no different and we are off to a rocking start with our week taking us to the IT Adventure Course @ Beantown, JayGees Fun Center, Hampton Beach Reservation, APEX Entertainment Center and Launch Trampoline Park. We added in a couple open swims at the YWCA Pool for good measure and had a week to remember! And now only 25 more trips to go………….
