Stand Against Racism
Each April, YWCAs across the nation work to raise awareness about systemic racism and what we can do to bring about racial equity. This year, YWCAs across Massachusetts—including YW Boston, YWCA Cambridge, YWCA Central Massachusetts, YWCA Malden, YWCA Greater Newburyport, YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts, and YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts—have teamed up to engage more people across the state in anti-racism work.
21 Day Racial Justice Challenge
Originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore Jr., and Debby Irving, the challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership.
Engaging Community Luncheon
The 11th annual YWCA Engaging Communities Luncheon: Keeping the Stories Alive: Exploring Newburyport’s Black Heritage is taking place on April 28, 2021, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM via Zoom.
2021 Nancy DiGrezio Memorial Scholarship
The Nancy DiGrezio Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who lives or attends school within the YWCA Greater Newburyport’s service area and is a leader for social justice among their peers; whose actions exemplify tolerance and understanding of differences; and who, by example, empowers other students to respond to acts of intolerance and discrimination.
A Conversation with Shantelle Castle
YWCA Greater Newburyport presents A Conversation with Chantelle Castle focusing on the unconscious Bias: Unlearning through Awareness, Education and Action. This will be taking place on Thursday, February 4th at 6 PM via Zoom.
Winter Swim Lessons at YWCA!
The YWCA Greater Newburyport is now accepting applicants for our general registration for Winter II, which begins on January 19th, 2021.
Employee Spotlight: Michele Wheeler
My love for fitness began at the age of 4 when I was enrolled in Figure Skating Lessons and continued on for years to compete competitively. I also participated in other sports from swimming and track in high school to DII Collegiate swimming and women’s club lacrosse in college.
